History Teaching with Moodle 2
In this chapter, we shall look at the role of Moodle workshops and how they can be used to enhance a student's understanding of topics and reinforce good practice. The virtual workshop allows students to assess the work of peers in a controlled and measured way, giving them insight into the breadth and scale of work that can be produced in a particular topic. I like the workshop having seen first hand how it releases time for a teacher to focus on a student's needs while also fostering a mature climate of peer-to-peer assessment. While appearing complex when used for the first time, workshops are definitely worth persevering with. If so, students will reach a stage where they find it normal practice to place their presentation, essay answer, and so on in a workshop knowing that they are going to get valuable and carefully structured feedback.
