In this chapter, we have first discussed the features of the Master Data Import Server or MDIS and how it differs from the Import Manager. We learned about the Port concept and how the MDIS handles import data using them. Then we listed the file types supported by the MDIS and discussed in detail how to work with them using the MDIS. Virtual Extended Records concept was briefly discussed next and the various transformations of the import source file. From there we moved on to the pre-requisites and then how to use the MDIS for automatic import of source data files in the MDM repository. The later topics discussed Exception Handling and the MDIS's Configuration. Finally we closed this chapter with some tips and tricks for troubleshooting problems while importing data using the MDIS.
