Chapter 10. Working with .NET and AX

After going through this chapter, you should be able to use .NET classes as reference classes in AX using Common Language Runtime. This chapter will also guide you through the process of creating a .NET class in Visual Studio and using it in AX. You will also learn how to use the AX logic from external applications by using .NET Business Connector.

Note

All the examples in this chapter that are written in Visual Studio are in C# programming language.

It's also important to understand that .NET is one of the many ways by which external applications can invoke the AX functionality. Perhaps the best and most recommended approach is to use web services that are deployed using the Application Integration Framework (AIF).
