Chapter 4. Integrating SaaS Applications

In this chapter, we will have a look at how we broker to web-based applications in VMware Horizon Workspace 1.5.

One of the core features of Horizon Workspace is the ability to entitle and consume web-based applications, also known as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).

It's a clear trend that many companies use SaaS applications that are provided by an external partner, such as Google, Salesforce, and Microsoft.

Once you start to use these services, it often becomes complex for the users and IT to set up and administer them, since they all have separate user management, password policies, and so on.

A solution to this complexity is Identity Federation, the idea being to use your corporate identity such as your Active Directory (AD) identity and extend it to the external service to reduce this complexity and enhance the user experience.
