Building Websites with Microsoft Content Management Server
In this chapter, we reviewed the default caching features in MCMS and discussed why caching is important. We learned how caching works in MCMS and ASP.NET. We went over the things that MCMS caches, from the disk cache, to the Node Cache and high-level caches. We also showed you how you can tune your MCMS server for optimal performance.
Then we tried out a few different ways to use ASP.NET output caching with MCMS templates, channel rendering scripts, and user controls. We also tried out the personalization and invalidation features of ASP.NET output caching in order to keep content personal and fresh for our users.
Lastly, we mentioned that you can and should use the CMS Performance Counters to ensure that caching is working well on your site, and also help you optimize your code.
