Using tags, creating tags, and tag shortcuts
OneNote gives us a list of tags that represent popular symbols or methods of highlighting text just as if you were using paper.
The tags that are provided by OneNote are shown in the following screenshot:
The drop-down list for Tags is available from the Home toolbar. These tags are either symbol tags or highlight tags. The symbol tag will create a symbol or icon beside your information; it is the symbol that is shown in the menu in the preceding screenshot. The highlight tags will apply a color highlight to your text.
You can apply tags to any information on your page. The exception to this is the highlight tags, which only work with text. Usually, you apply the tag after you have created the information in OneNote. However, the To Do tag is an example of a tag that you may want to create before you start typing.
