Searching for notes in OneNote

Just like you can search for tags on your pages, you can find any text that you entered. As you start to accumulate a lot of notes in your notebooks, searching for text becomes very helpful. Let's say that you know you wrote a note on that topic somewhere, but you just can't remember where to find it. To overcome this, you can search the notebooks on your computer, smartphone, or tablet.

Follow these steps to search for text or words in your notes:

  1. Click on the search icon (that is, the magnifying glass).
  2. Type one or multiple words into the search box.
  3. Choose where you are searching for the word(s). Your choices are as follows:
    • All Notebooks
    • Current Notebook: Notebook name shown
    • Current Section: Section name shown
    • Current Page: Page name shown
  4. Click on Pages to see the word(s) that was found on your notebook pages.
  5. Select any page listed to see where on the page your word(s) has been found. The word will be highlighted...
