Exploring the reporting tool

You might not have realized it, but you have already been using reports in the last four chapters! How? Well, Moodle has done something very smart: it uses internal reports for key features in Moodle Workplace. For example, the list of active programs is a report. Active or archived certifications? Another two reports. The overview of all job assignments? You guessed it, yet another report. Every time you see a table list view in any of the Moodle Workplace tools, it is highly likely to be a built-in system report.

Moodle Workplace distinguishes between two types of reports:

  • System reports: Embedded, pre-defined reports that are part of Moodle Workplace. System reports cannot be modified or removed since various Workplace features rely on them.
  • Custom reports: User-generated reports made available to other users.
