So, now that you have an idea of how WAN data gets from one side to the other and the speed available, you now need to understand the types of connections they use. We basically have three types of connection, as shown in the following diagram, and then we will break down each one:

- Dedicated or leased lines: This type of connection is what we would call a point-to-point connection and it is a dedicated connection. It is simple connection going from one CPE through the DCE to another CPE, and you would have bandwidth up to 45 Mbps.
