There are hundreds of gamepads you can choose from, to purchase for your PC or Mac. In this section, we will cover setting up an Xbox 360 controller for Windows. If you have purchased a different controller, make sure to install the associated drivers according to the instructions provided with your gamepad. If you have a Mac and a gamepad officially supported by OS X, then the instructions here should work for you as well. At the end of this chapter, we will look at ways you can still use poorly supported gamepads on your Mac.
Before starting Greenfoot, plug your Xbox 360 controller for Windows into your PC and allow Microsoft Update time to search for, download, and install the required drivers for the gamepad. This should take 5–15 minutes depending on your network connectivity.
