Chapter 6. Tidying Up and Polishing

Polishing is the most important thing you'll learn in this entire book. If you can master the art of making your game polished, it doesn't matter how simple or complex it is; you'll have a great game. And yes, even though you may be a great programmer who hasn't had a bug in your program in years, or an artist who makes people faint when they see your character designs, you still need to polish you game. It's absolutely necessary for any modern game to be a solid experience for the player.
