Let's say that you have spent quite a bit of time customizing how your wiki looks to your visitors. You have made the changes we covered in the book, have risen to the challenges, and even went off on your own to learn more about MediaWIki skins and applied this to your MonoBook skin. Your wiki is looking great!
Now suppose you have a user who logs in and changes the skin to Simple. All your hard work is now lost on this user, or any others who change their skins on your site.
Luckily, if you wish for a consistent look across your wiki, you can force this by making a few changes to a little file called SpecialPreferences.php
that can be found in ../public_html/includes/specials/
