Time for action - installing the Flash extension


Before we can begin embedding Flash files, we have to install the extension. This extension can be found at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Flash. After we download and install the extension, we will need to make some changes to our LocalSettings.php file again so that the extension works properly.

  1. 1. Open your browser and point it to the URL for the Flash extension: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Flash.

  2. 2. Download the file from the link provided on the page. This link can be found at the right-hand side of the page in the box next to the table of contents as shown in the following screenshot:

  1. 3. You will be taken to the download page. With this extension, you actually have to create the .php file yourself. On the download page, you will need to select all of the code on the page starting with<?php all the way to the end.

  2. 4. Once you have selected all of the code, copy your selection.

  3. 5. Open up your favorite text editor...
