Creating jQuery Mobile pages from scratch


jQuery Mobile pages include HTML, JavaScript from the jQuery Mobile library, and CSS. In the previous chapter, you created jQuery Mobile pages using one of the (essentially identical) jQuery Mobile starter pages in Dreamweaver CS5.5. That page came with the three essential elements, plus template and placeholder content.

In many cases, that starter page is a good place to start in creating jQuery Mobile pages. However, there are other ways to design pages using different jQuery Mobile layout techniques, specifically layout grids and collapsible blocks. In general, given small viewport in mobile devices, you will choose one of these approaches to designing mobile pages. Therefore, if you are using layout elements other than data-pages, you will want to start by creating a blank jQuery Mobile page, and populating it from scratch.
