Our exploration of using the respective toolkits for generating iOS and Android apps is constrained by two things. First, we are not high-level professional coders and second, these toolkits operate behind the scenes in Dreamweaver CS5.5, and for most of us, that is just fine.
However, it is worth taking a moment to identify what will be going on behind the scenes when we use Dreamweaver CS5.5 to generate Android and (on Macs) iOS apps.
The Xcode suite of tools was developed and is distributed by Apple. The entire set of tools can be used to write software for Mac OS X and iOS. The subset of these tools applicable here creates iOS apps—we are not going to be using Dreamweaver to write applications for desktops and laptops. Xcode 4 is the current version of Xcode. Apple sells it and it can be downloaded directly from Apple. However, Dreamweaver CS5.5 is configured, so that Mac users can install the Xcode4 seamlessly.
