Choosing your View Client


The decision on which client to use is likely to differ based on a number of different factors. Each client type has distinct advantages but those advantages are secondary compared to the needs of the end user. This section will consider some common scenarios that are likely to impact which solution you use for your View Clients.

Why software clients?

One of the main reasons why organizations choose to use the View Clients for existing OS's is that they likely already own hardware and an OS capable of running the client software. Based on the current supported hardware and OS requirements, it is possible to run the View Client on a Windows XP computer with an 800 MHZ processor, both of which are over 10 years old. By comparison, the average thin or zero clients cost several hundred dollars or more, which can dramatically increase the capital costs of a View implementation project.
