Summary

Business components and their child object definitions such as joins and fields are among the most important members of the business logic layer of the Siebel CRM metadata model.

In this chapter, we learned how business components work and how to create joins and single value fields.

In addition, we explored how to use expressions in the Siebel Query Language to define calculated fields and apply validation rules.

Finally, we learned how to create custom instances of business components for the purpose of supporting read-only data access.

In the next chapter, we will explore the data layer of the Siebel Repository and learn how to configure its object types.
