Updating ThinApp packages


There are multiple ways to update applications that have been packaged using ThinApp. The simplest is to simply repackage the updated application and to redeploy it using whatever method you wish. This can even include using View to assign the newer version of the application and unassign the old version.

This section will focus on using the native features of ThinApp to update existing ThinApp projects and repackage them, which preserves any previous application's customization and prevents the need to repeat the entire capture process.

Note

Do not attempt to update ThinApp packages when performing a major version upgrade of an application. It is best to capture a clean installation of the newer version of the application rather than attempting an in-place upgrade. By performing a clean installation of the target application, you eliminate the possibility that any settings or files associated with the previous version will affect the behavior of the newer version...
