How to clean up hum and crackle with Notch Filters
Sometimes the audio you are working with has specific tones or noises that are consistent across the track. These could be pops and crackles caused by electrical or radio inference, frequencies that resonate through a space, or even equipment and lighting in the area. Sometimes, even handling microphones can cause these unwanted noises. With some effort, it is possible to use just an EQ setup in a specific way to remove these offending frequencies. We’ll use the EQ3 1-Band to both detect and eliminate unwanted noises from a track.

Recording a voice near a lighting fixture or other electrical equipment such as a refrigerator or furnace/air conditioner is a good example.
