Performing an ADR session

Now that the session has been prepared, let’s look at some of the ways you can quickly navigate around an ADR session while working with talent. Knowing these techniques can make things move more efficiently and save frustrations within a session. Many thanks to ADR engineer Christopher Johnson for demonstrating some of these techniques.

Getting ready

For this recipe, you will need a Pro Tools session prepared for ADR with Markers, a Beep track, and a Record track. You can reference the previous recipe to create this. This workflow uses hotkeys, so ensure that Keyboard Focus is set to the Edit window (the small box with az in the top right).

How to do it…

We’ll navigate quickly between markers, place the Beep tracks accordingly, and record multiple takes while keeping them organized. Follow along with these steps:

  1. In the menu bar, select Window | Memory Locations.
  2. Click on a Marker to move the timeline insertion...
