Using edit points to remove errors

Depending on the recording process, you might find yourself with a voice track that has had errors and mistakes removed, mistakes marked on the audio track with a clicker, or no markings whatsoever. When working with voice tracks that have no guidance for editing, being able to add edits quickly as you listen to playback can be very helpful. This recipe will demonstrate one way you can edit as you listen to a playback, then go back and remove the errors after you perform a pass. There are other methods to do similar work, but this practice is still helpful for certain scenarios.

Getting ready

For this recipe, you will need a Pro Tools session with an audio track placed in a track. If you want to try this out on a practical example, then having a recorded voice with errors can help. One has been provided in the GitHub project for this book. Otherwise, an empty audio clip or any audio clip will do.
