Licensing models on RDS

RDS supports two popular commercial RDBMS database engines, Oracle and SQL Server. When you work with these engines on RDS, it is important for you to know how the licensing works. Both these database engines support two types of licensing models: License Included and Bring-Your-Own-License, but not all the database editions can be licensed under the License Included model. Under each licensing model, there is a limit to the number of DB instances that you can run in the account. You can always request AWS to lift the limit if needed. By default, you can run 40 DB instances. Out of which, you can have 10 DB instances running on Oracle or SQL Server under the License Included model. You can run 40 DB instances for MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL, or you can have all 40 running on Bring-Your-Own-License model.
