Creating read replicas

The New-RDSDBInstanceReadReplica cmdlet lets you create a read replica for the specified DB instance running PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB. By default, a read replica will be created as a single AZ deployment and automated backups will be disabled. When you create a read replica on the primary, you must have automated backup enabled. You can create a read replica in different regions as well. In this example, we will be creating the read replica in the same region. Review the online documentation for creating read replicas in different regions. The overall process remains the same.

To create a read replica for a primary DB instance, you can use the following command:
