Security is paramount for any project dealing with data. Keeping your environment safe from unwanted access and ensuring your data is always encrypted at rest and at transit should be considered fundamental problems that you need to address when you are working with data. Remember, data is arguably the most important intangible asset of any organization.
In this chapter, you learned about ways to keep your Azure Synapse Data Explorer environment secure. We started with an overview of the security challenges, and then we drilled into each one of them. You learned about how Azure Synapse handles data encryption, and how to enable double encryption on your workspaces for an added layer of security. Once the data is encrypted, you learned about how Azure Synapse handles user authentication through Azure AD integration.
