The ideal animation system is both easy to use and at the same time offers a wide range of powerful features. While this is not necessarily an oxymoron, such a perfect animation system is hard to find.
To meet the requirements of modern AAA games, animation systems have to have a certain degree of complexity to offer all the functionalities that are needed. The trade-off of this is that these systems demand a bit of technical expertise from the user.
