We can use similar techniques to the last recipe to add color variation to the leaf material. However, we don't just want to paint some color changes all over the leaf. If you examine the original scan, you will see that the veins are less affected by leaf discoloration. We will therefore set our ivy-leaf-vein
texture as a stencil to mask the veins from the effects of the discoloration texture.
You will need to open the blendfile, ivy-leaf-05.blend

With the leaf mesh selected, switch to the Texture panel and select the next free texture slot. Create a new texture of type Clouds and name it
discoloration
.Under the Clouds tab, select Grayscale and Noise/Hard. Set the Size to

and the Depth to4
