Summary

AWS CloudWatch is a monitoring service which is native to the AWS Cloud, and all the services that are supported on AWS can be monitored using this service. In this chapter, we learnt how you can monitor EC2 instances using AWS supplied metrics and custom metrics. We also learnt how RDS databases can be monitored. In addition to EC2 and RDS, we used CloudWatch logs to extend the capability of CloudWatch to monitor application and server logs. The Simple Notification Service plays a vital role in delivering the messages from CloudWatch to the endpoint. In the next chapter, we will learn about AWS Config and AWS auditing capabilities using CloudTrail.
