Suspending the Auto Scaling process

When we work with Auto Scaling, there are a number of different processes that Auto Scaling performs in the background. Auto Scaling provides us with an option to suspend the processes that Auto Scaling performs in the background. The reason we might want to suspend these processes is to investigate configuration problems or to troubleshoot any other issue in regard to your application and environment. The processes are as follows:

Let's say you want to suspend the terminate process while you troubleshoot the issue, as you want to review the log files on the server and you want to ensure that Scale-In does not trigger the termination of the EC2 instances; you can suspend it as follows:

PS C:\> Suspend-ASProcess -AutoScalingGroupName WebAppASG -ScalingProcess "Terminate"
