The next part that we will model is the main body of the robot, which is made by three cubes. These cubes will articulate and connect the lower and upper parts of the model, like the arms and legs. To get started, add a simple cube to the scene and deform it until the object fits the reference image.
In object mode, select the cube and duplicate it to create the second part of the main body. Add a Bevel modifier with the default settings to both cubes in order to add a chamfer to all edges of the cubes.
For the upper part of the main body, we will need another cube with a few extra transformations. Add the cube and in edit mode, press the Ctrl+R keys to add a face loop cut in the direction shown in the image below (section 1). Create two cuts by pressing the + key on the numeric keyboard or by rolling the mouse scroll. After that, add another cut in the middle of the object at a perpendicular direction (section 2).
