In the last chapter, we started creating our robot and gave it a rough form using a bunch of polygons and a reference image. The robot was incomplete at the end of Chapter 11, so now we will continue the modeling process by using some modifiers and curves turned into 3D meshes to add more detail to the overall model. In addition, we will start creating the scenario used to create the robot in LuxRender using a few tricks and special materials to give it a sci-fi look.
Blender has a lot of modifiers that can really improve the modeling process, and we will be using some of them to add a few details and improve the modeling. Before we use these modifiers directly, let's take a quick look at how each of the modifiers work and how they can help us.
