Modern browsers are very fast at implementing the web standard defined by W3C. As the Electron aligns with the latest version of the chromium, most of these features are available in Electron also. Even though we have native capabilities with Electron, these features are useful and more productive than the native or custom approach. For example, when your application requests a remote resource or your pages and assets are hosted on a remote server, using a service worker is better than implementing a custom resource caching mechanism. In this chapter, we will be looking into using these technologies and features in our Electron applications. This will give you a brief idea about increasing the productivity using the built-in web standard features that are available in the chromium or Electron shell.
