Introducing the sample application


We are going to create a sample social media client application to showcase the Electron features in the most advantageous environment. This application will be a desktop client that uses Facebook APIs. So basically, we will be implementing a limited set of Facebook features in this application. The backend data is supposed to be consumed from the Facebook Graph API which is the primary way that data is retrieved from or posted to Facebook. This sample application can be used to get your Facebook newsfeed, post stories and images to your Facebook wall, get your Friends list and manage your Friends, and so on. As we are developing a sample application, we will be implementing only a limited set of functionalities from Facebook. We will start the application bootstrapping process in this chapter, and in later chapters we will also look at how to integrate this sample application into our desktop environment by providing some nice desktop features like notifications...
