The need for an enterprise gamification strategy


Humans are often caught up by herd mentality, influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviors and practices. Businesses are not an exception as they meticulously follow trends adopted by their peers with the concern of being left out. Most enterprises started enrolling themselves into gamification after it figured in Gartner's hype cycle for emerging technologies. After enjoying much hype and attention in 2012, gamification's fortunes were clearly at stake with Gartner predicting that by 2014, 80 percent of gamified applications will fail to meet the business objectives primarily due to poor design. The following are reasons for which it could go wrong:

  • Gamification thought of as an elixir to cure all the problems with respect to user engagement
