We are almost done with configuring JIRA for test management; there are a few other things that are left and those are setting up versions and components.
Versions are useful for software projects to identify different releases of software. You would always release the first version of a stable project or product and, based on the user feedback and improvement, further versions will be released. JIRA allows you to create various versions and assign them to individual issues.
Go to Project Administration | Version, enter the Name of the version, a Description, Start date, and Release date, and click on the Add button:
We have added versions (such as v1.0
, v1.1
, and v1.2
). You can choose names that are relevant to your project.
In any project, the features can be broken down into subsections or into a module. It is not only useful to break down the bigger tasks, but it also helps in segregating issues.
Go to Project Administration | Components, enter the Name of the component...
