Time for action – install and experiment with the Custom SQL query tool


Installation of the Custom SQL query tool is a straightforward process that resembles the process for installing blocks, modules, and other plugins. To install the tool follow these steps:

  1. From the Moodle.org, Modules and Plugins page, search for Custom SQL queries.

  2. Click on the Custom SQL queries name link found in the search results and then on the Download for 1.9 link found at the bottom-right corner of the explanation window.

  3. Unzip the customsql.zip package and place the resulting customsql directory in the admin reports directory found in your Moodle directory at /yourmoodledirectory/admin/reports.

  4. Click on the Notifications link found in the Site Administration block to finish the installation process. You will see a screen that confirms that the customsql plugin has been set up correctly, as shown in the following screenshot:
