Overview of this book

Getting into system security


As you know by now, Service-Now is a role-based system, and to access any module, you should have the respective role.

Getting ready

To step through this recipe, you should have an active Service-Now instance, valid credentials, and an admin or security admin role.

How to do it...

  1. Open any standard web browser.
  2. Type the Service-Now instance web address (https://{instance_name}.service-now.com) provided by your company in the address bar. Now, enter your credentials in respective fields
  3. On the left-hand side, type system security  in the search box, and Service-Now will search for the module for you:

  1. To create a new role, you need to type the role in the search box, and Service-Now will search the module for you. Click on the Roles module:

  1. Roles module acts as a central repository of all system and custom roles. After clicking on the Roles module, you will be able to see all roles as given here, where you need to click on the New button...
