Overview of this book

ServiceNow is a SaaS application that provides workflow form-based applications. We will introduce key concepts and examples on managing and automating IT services, and help you build a solid foundation towards this new approach. You will then learn more about the power of tasks, events, and notifications. We’ll then focus on using web services and other mechanisms to integrate ServiceNow with other systems. Further on, you’ll learn how to secure applications and data, and understand how ServiceNow performs logging and error reporting. Including the date in a report's e-mail notification

By default, Service-Now doesn't include dates in the subject of an e-mail notification. That's why many clients ask for the date to be included in the subject of e-mail notifications so that they can differentiate between the reports. In this recipe, we will learn to include the date in a report's e-mail notification.

Getting ready

For this recipe, all you need is an active Service-Now instance, valid credentials, and an admin role.

How to do it...

  1. Open a web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer).
  2. Type the instance web address in the address bar.
  3. Log in to the Service-Now instance using credentials.
  4. On the left-hand side search box, type reports in the search box and select Scheduled Report module under Reports Application.
  5. Now open the Scheduled Execution of Last Month Incident Report record.
  6. The Schedule Email of Report configuration page--Subject field supports javascript that's why we can also include a declaration...
