Overview of this book

ServiceNow is a SaaS application that provides workflow form-based applications. It is an ideal platform for creating enterprise-level applications, giving requesters and fulfillers improved visibility and access to a process. Understand web services

Out of box, service-now provide channels to communicate with outside world. Service-now is capable enough to communicate over HTTP based web services. It’s is advisable to use MID (Management, Instrumentation, and Discovery) to communicate to outside world as MID server communicate over HTTP to communicate to service-now instances.

Getting ready 

To step through this recipe, you should have active instance and valid credentials with admin/web services role. 

How to do it... 

  1. Open any standard web browser and type instance address.
  2. Login in service-now instance with valid credentials.
  3. On left hand side in search box, type web services and service-now will search out module for you as shown following:

  1. Out of box, service-now provides following types of web services.
    • Publisher: By publishing the web services, you can provide data to external sources to consume. Each service-now table has potential to publish its data to external system.
    • Click: Create New under Inbound...
