Building Brand Mock-Ups and Prototypes
All brands exist to be seen in print, onscreen, and on the web. This process is iterative and often calls for mock-ups of logos, websites, and products before committing to the final product while aiming to reduce costs attributed to manufacturing the actual product. This is especially pertinent as we should also endeavor to reduce our carbon footprint and consider the use of natural materials.
In this chapter, you will create mock-ups for a range of scenarios, from devices such as iPads and smartphones to bottles, T-shirts, and murals. The vast majority of these can be edited through the power of smart objects, group masks, and linked assets.
We’ll start by reviewing the key characteristics of source images and the environment within which your mock-ups will be brought to life. We will scrutinize aspects such as angles, depth of field, and content that obscures the focal point of a mock-up.
