Summary

In this chapter, we have created Photoshop documents made specifically for print. We’ve utilized a multitude of techniques that minimize the costly errors that are common in print projects.

We have built new documents that are characterized by the appropriate resolution and size to match common ISO paper sizes. We extended the canvas to account for bleed, and we added a series of grid systems and guides that indicate critical parts of print artwork, such as trim lines and safe zones. In doing so, we ensured that important visuals and text were kept clear of the document edges.

Time-consuming, repetitive tasks were recorded using actions, which we then applied in other projects at lightning-fast speeds.

We built flexibility into each project, from logos that were linked to an original Illustrator document to text that could be edited at any point. We also applied color overlays that allow for a single logo to contain different brand colors that can be turned...
