Working with video and audio in Photoshop

Believe it or not, Photoshop was created by John Knoll to facilitate motion picture special effects, who was working with a company called Industrial Light & Magic. Some 20 years later, Photoshop allowed for editing and rendering of video footage with the launch of Creative Suite 3 in 2007, and its features have strengthened since.

Creating a new document intended for video

The easiest method for creating a PSD intended for video output is to video footage, just as you would a JPG file. Photoshop will then create a document that is based on the source video characteristics, such as size and ratio. However, the footage we are starting with came from an iPhone and you can start with a clean document canvas:

  1. Go to FileNew. When the New Document dialog appears, click on the Video tab at the top of the dialog to display the presets. Click on the HDTV 1080p thumbnail. Enter VideoWoodland-A into the Name field at the top...
