Costing of cost resources

There are some unique features of cost resources compared to the other resource types:

  • The monetary values of cost resources are determined only at the time of assignment.
  • The same cost resources can have different monetary values for different assignments.
  • Logically, the cost resources are not tied to work like Word and Material resources are.

Two cost resources have already been created in our hands-on project, as shown in the following screenshot:

Notice that cost resources will not have a cost value assigned to the Std. Rate column in the RESOURCE SHEET view, where they are defined. The reason for this is that costs such as airfares, hotel prices, conference rooms, and others fluctuate. The actual cost can only be known at the time of booking.
