Installing the AIR SDK


Before we begin, it is important that you take the time to ensure your installation of Flash Professional is up-to-date and that the latest version of the AIR SDK is installed.

Getting ready

You will need either Flash Professional CS5 or CS5.5 in order to compile native iOS apps.

A 30-day trial of Flash Professional CS5.5 can be downloaded from the Adobe site at www.adobe.com/downloads.

How to do it...

We will split this recipe into two parts. First, we will install any updates required by Flash Professional. Secondly, we will download and install the most recent version of the AIR runtime and SDK.

Updating Flash Professional

Occasionally, Adobe makes updates to Flash Professional available. These updates tend to include bug fixes or additional features that for one reason or another weren't available upon release.
