Normalizing audio
Staying on the Fairlight page, we will now use Resolve to automatically change all the audio levels of the clips to a specified maximum volume. Normalization stops drastic changes in the peak volume, which can deafen your viewer and have them constantly reaching for the volume control. You can also access the Audio Normalization controls in the same way on the Edit page.
Rather than individually adjusting the volume of each clip to match each other, you can instruct Resolve to automatically adjust the clips so that the peak (loudest) volume of each clip is the same.
This automatic volume leveling of the clips is called normalizing audio:
- To do this, right-click the selected audio clip or clips you want to normalize and select Normalize Audio Levels… from the pop-up menu.
