Creating substitute or replacement items


You might enter an order for an item, but the supplier does not have the quantity available to fill the order. If the system notifies you that the item on a detail line is obsolete, you can review and select a replacement for the item.

Getting ready

Set up the processing options of the P4310 application in order to activate the item cross reference.

How to do it...

  1. 1. From the P4310 application Processing option, access the Cross Ref tab.

  2. 2. Specify the default Cross-Reference code that the system uses to retrieve Substitute Items. The value that you enter is used as the default on the Substitute Item Search and Select form.

  3. 3. Specify the Cross-Reference code that the system uses to retrieve item replacements for Obsolete Items. The system uses the value that you enter as the default on the Substitute Item Search and Select form.

  4. 4. From the Purchase Order form, select the Item Number from the Order Detail tab, and then click on Substitute...
