AA: You mentioned earlier that a data leader should extract information from data that wouldn’t otherwise be seen. When it comes to organizations becoming data-driven, what do you think some of the common challenges and pitfalls they face are?
SD: It’s quite interesting, actually. It speaks to the history of the role of the consultant.
There was a time when Google was not there and the internet was not there, and if you wanted to get access to information, you had to go to a library, or you had to find the experts, and that’s what consultants were for. They were individuals that went from one company to another, with all due care and ethics, sharing knowledge across the retail sector or banking sector, and so on.
