Building a good data culture within an organization
AA: Something we just touched on, which I think is important, is having the right data culture within an organization to attract and retain the right people, understand how these people work, and align their work with the goals of the organization. Do you have specific views on what a successful data culture looks like in an organization? What do you do as a senior leader to try and enable the right culture throughout the organization?
AG: I think culture is extremely important. Peter Drucker said that culture eats strategy for breakfast.
A culture is not just for the data level. It should be at the company level. You can then translate it to the data team. Fortunately, many of the companies I have worked for had a very good culture and took it very seriously. Those companies had cultural values. Everything you did would be based on those cultural values.
