Summary

In this chapter, we looked at how to harness the Layers panel to create a smooth and predictable workflow. We discovered the differences between working with vector and pixel layers and how to take advantage of mask and adjustment layers. We saw how sublayers and groups can extend the options we have available to us, and we also covered how to use the clipping function to control the appearance of our objects.

We also took a more specific look at Affinity Designer's objects features and functions and how to manage them within the Layers panel. We learned about finding objects with Auto Scroll, how to create and take advantage of compound objects, how to isolate layers, and how to move objects around within the Layers panel through copying and pasting, targeting, and inserting. In short, we've taken a deep dive into how to use the Layers panel by using regular layers, sublayers, and artboards to help us manage our document objects and streamline our workflow.
