So far, we have been adding physics and collision detection capabilities to the 3D characters in our 3D scenes. We were able to simulate real-life effects when 3D characters collide. However, games require some life and action. Players want to play against the computer. They want to evade an enemy that is threatening their main character. How can we create intelligent characters capable of chasing or evading other characters?
We can do this by adding artificial intelligence(AI) algorithms to our characters. We have to add chasing algorithms. If there is a character chasing, there should be another evading. However, real-life situations are not perfect. If we create perfect algorithms, the computer is always going to win. Most players are not as smart as Garry Kasparov (the well-known chess champion). He needed IBM to create a specialized supercomputer, Deep Blue, to beat him. Besides, he was able to beat many supercomputers...
