How can we create the right report? In this section, I will introduce you to a workflow that you can use to derive a reporting strategy based on your actual information requirements.
As explained before, reporting has a strategic and an operational component. The strategic component is derived from your mid-term goals. The operations component needs to satisfy the daily information needs on a per-department basis. Since SAP has a multitude of reporting technologies, such as canned reports, queries, Crystal Reports, and XL Reporter, the question is which tool to use for what reporting need.
First, evaluate the available reports per section. As you know, each menu section has a category called Reports. You can evaluate the available reports and see if they cover your needs.
